Our Team

Claire E. Cameron earned a PhD in Education & Psychology from the University of Michigan. She is an internationally-recognized expert in how young children develop self-regulation and the contexts that foster school readiness. Her 20-year career in higher education includes serving as a research scientist at the University of Virginia and achieving tenure at the University at Buffalo. Originally trained in quantitative methods, Dr. Cameron now teaches mixed methods, doctoral student writing, and child development online. She loves finding the stories within the data and using research to solve practical, real-world problems.

Chris Rates has a PhD in Science Education from the University of Virginia, where he gained expertise in complex systems. He has extensive experience in program evaluation and data management. He has analyzed and reported on datasets containing hundreds of thousands of data points, and conducted hundreds of interviews. Dr. Rates is passionate about understanding and improving systems, and finding ways to support and motivate the human beings who find themselves at the mercy of imperfect systems.
